Mercury’s Digital Path
From zero experience to digital beginnings

With a laptop, a solar panel, and support from Olav Hansen, I started learning IT from scratch. With help, I was able to create a website for John showing some of his construction sites in different places. Here’s what I’ve built so far for him.

About Me

Hi, I’m Mercury

I recently completed my secondary education. Until about a year ago, I had never used a laptop. I didn’t even know how to start one.

Thanks to Olav Hansen, who believed in me, I received a microloan to buy a laptop and a solar panel to power it. That’s where my journey began.

My Learning Journey

When I got my laptop, I didn’t know anything about computers. I had to learn from the very beginning.

I started by learning how to turn it on, type, and move files around. Then I discovered how to use the internet to search and learn.

I slowly got used to tools like Google Docs, Canva, and even AI tools like ChatGPT.

Now, I’m learning more every day — including how websites work and how to create one myself.

What I’m Working On

1.Creating my own personal website (this one!)

2.Learning basic HTML

3.Helping others who are also new to digital tools

4.Exploring remote work opportunities in the future
