Hedensted – There were high expectations for the ridesharing scheme GoMore when Hedensted Municipality launched the initiative for the municipality’s citizens in April last year.
But after eight months with very few users of the offer, Hedensted Municipality had to admit in November that it was not the successful scheme it had hoped for.
However, that is not stopping the municipality from trying out a ridesharing scheme again. It has just taken the first steps into a pilot project called “Young Village Lift” (Ung Landsbylift).
- This time, we have tightened the target group, so that we are now primarily looking for young people aged 14 to 17. We are doing this based on the fact that many young people in smaller villages today have problems with transport when they go to and from leisure activities and work, says Liselotte Hillestrøm (S), chairwoman of the leisure and community committee in Hedensted Municipality.
She explains that they will initially select three sports clubs, all of which are located in a village that is affected by poor public transport options.
- As some places choose to cut back on bus routes, the situation for young people is getting worse. We would like to help change that. We also wanted to do that with GoMore, but the set-up itself was not that targeted and not attractively user-friendly, says Liselotte Hillestrøm.
She explains that the app Coofle from GreenDriveThinking is what they are now looking at.
- In principle, anyone can register as a driver in Coofle. But the basic idea is that members of an association are registered. Young people and drivers are then put together in safe groups, so that the young people, together with their parents, can approve who they can drive with, says Liselotte Hillestrøm.
- It is a smart system, and drivers do not have to remember to activate the app or enter their turn. When using a smartphone, the young person’s location will be registered. Unlike GoMore, it all happens automatically.
Read much more about the project in the newspaper on Thursday – including what it costs and how Hedensted Municipality will finance it.
4. The young will find their transport rides on their smartphone

HORNSYLD – When you’re in eighth grade and live in the countryside, it’s not always easy to get to and from school and your leisure activities.
- I’m very dependent on my parents. Everything is far away, says Emma Pedersen, who lives a bit outside Stouby and is in eighth grade at Skolen i Midten.
On Wednesday, she and the rest of the school’s eighth grade gathered to learn about each other’s transportation challenges, but also to take stock of a digital program that may be of great help in the future.

Want to make it easier
Coofle is the name of the program for mobile phones that the company Green Drive Thinking presented to the students.
It is a program that is intended to be a smart and easy way for young people to find and get a lift from schoolmates’ parents, grandparents and other adults in the local area. The idea behind the program is that adult drivers and young passengers are part of so-called safe groups, so that young people do not have to ride with strangers.
- Young passengers will be able to get a lift on routes that the drivers already drive. It is very beneficial to society, says Olav Lange Hansen, who, together with his wife, Marianne Hansen, is behind the program, which has not yet been fully developed.
The development is still ongoing, and if Hornsyld and other local villages are to benefit from it later, a third of the town’s adults must first register in the program.
Otherwise, the lifts will be too far apart, is the assessment of the entrepreneurial couple from Vester Nebel.
Among the students at Skolen i Midten, there is interest in getting “the adults” on the app.
- Yes, definitely, says Emma Pedersen, who is driven several kilometers every day by her mother just to get to the bus that can take her to school in Hornsyld.
Her schoolmates agree.
- It would be nice if you could jump on an app and find a lift when your parents can’t drive, says one of them, Natasja Hermansen.
